	Alaska possesses both the dun factor gene (grullo) and the roan gene (blue roan), and is technically both a blue roan and grullo. In combination, she is best referred to as a "grullo roan," though AQHA has her registered as a grullo. Most of the time, she looks more blue roan than grullo roan.
	Alaska's first foal was a brindle-striped red dun in 2007. In 2008, she had a grullo colt with LOTS of good dun factor markings.
	On February 14, 2009, we noticed that Alaska's legs sometimes make a clicking noise when she walks. It was below freezing that day, and we don't know if that was part of the cause. We have never seen her have any kind of soundness problem at all, even when in training or when heavy with foal.
